Assumption of Risk, Release of Liability, and Code of Conduct
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ CAREFULLY. Roller skating is a fun activity, but it can also be inherently dangerous. By signing this agreement, you acknowledge that even if you do not read this form, do not ask questions, or choose not to review it fully, your signature constitutes a full understanding and legally binding agreement to everything written below .
#1. RISK OF INJURY: I understand that roller skating is a sport with significant risks. I recognize that I can get hurt by falling, colliding with other people, hitting walls or objects, equipment failure, or the careless actions of other skaters . These injuries can range from minor cuts and broken bones to serious head injuries, permanent disability, or death . Under Maryland law, businesses may ask participants to accept these known risks, and I freely accept all risks of injury, even if caused by my own actions, the condition of the rink, or the negligence of the instructor or staff .
#2. RELEASE OF LIABILITY & MARYLAND LAW: In exchange for being allowed to participate in skating lessons, I agree not to sue Lead Instructor , his employees, or volunteers for any injury or loss related to skating, using rental equipment, or participating in events . This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Maryland . It is critical to understand that Maryland follows the Pure Contributory Negligence rule. Under this harsh legal standard, if an injured person is found to be even 1% at fault for their injury, they are completely barred from recovering any damages, even if the instructor or rink was mostly to blame. Furthermore, Maryland courts recognize the Assumption of Risk doctrine and generally enforce clearly written liability waivers .
#3. MEDICAL FITNESS & SAFETY: I certify that I am in good physical health and do not have medical conditions, such as pregnancy or heart issues, that would make skating unsafe . I am responsible for my own health insurance and understand that I am liable for all medical bills if I do not have coverage . For everyone's safety, I agree to follow the Code of Conduct, which includes no rough skating, no racing, and no alcohol . Failure to follow these rules or staff instructions may result in removal without a refund.
All clients must be 18+ and provide a valid ID at the first session. No exceptions
Public Space: Lessons happen during regular skating times. We are not renting the whole rink. Other people will be skating around and between us while I teach or show you moves.
Other Skaters: I cannot control what other skaters do or how they act. Sometimes they might get in the way.
Interruptions: Lessons might be paused or stopped at any time for reasons we didn't expect.
Noise: The DJ’s music or other people talking might be very loud. This can make it hard to hear me or talk to each other during our session.
Refunds: You cannot get your money back for a lesson unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the scheduled time.
Rescheduling: If you need to pick a new time, you must tell me 24 hours in advance. The new time must also fit my schedule.
